Füssen is a historic town in the Ostallgäu district that offers you countless leisure opportunities and sights. The immediate surroundings, such as the royal castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein in the neighbouring village of Schwangau and the nearby border with Austria (Tyrol), also offer you great destinations.
There are numerous opportunities here for leisure activities in nature – whether winter or summer. We would like to give you some suggestions here about what our region has to offer.

Being active or simply relaxing away from everyday stress
Nature and sports enthusiasts will get their money's worth in this region thanks to the many cycling and mountain bike routes as well as hiking trails. Our house is the perfect starting point for this – also for families wanting to make eventful and beautiful tours.

For families
Directly opposite our holiday house you will find a playground (in the spa park), and in about a 15-minute walk you reach the Forest Adventure Centre with its beautiful treetop walk, located right on the river Lech.
Not far from the town of Füssen lies Lake Weißensee, which invites you to swim and relax. Here you will find both a small beach bar serving refreshing drinks and ice lollies, and a children's playground that leaves nothing to be desired.

If you cross the border into Austria, you will also find beautiful destinations there, for example the suspension bridges in the Lechtal and in Reutte. This so-called highline179 is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world and is certainly worth a trip.
Culture
Füssen and its immediate surroundings offer all kinds of cultural sights. Füssen itself has a historic old town that was already inhabited by the Romans. The Via Claudia Augusta was named after Emperor Claudius, who had it built around 50 AD. Füssen is also a perfect destination for art lovers. With the State Gallery in the High Castle and the municipal picture gallery, the epochs of the Middle Ages and the early modern period are covered historically. The Museum of the City of Füssen also impressively shows the Baroque architecture of the former Benedictine monastery.
At the Festspielhaus in Füssen, musical and concert lovers get their money's worth. In addition to the musical sounds, it offers a wonderful view of Neuschwanstein Castle, which lies not far from Füssen in Schwangau and can also be visited.
All in all, the cultural offering in the region is extensive. As the Austrian border is not far away, the region around the Alpine foothills not only offers varied activities but also covers intercultural interests.
Activities in summer
In summer the Allgäu offers you numerous opportunities to spend your holiday in nature. The landscape slowly wakes from its winter sleep in spring, and in summer even the last peaks are free of snow. The Ostallgäu is known for its wonderful lake landscape, which invites you to swim and relax. Of course, the region also offers hikes and mountain tours covering every level of difficulty, making them interesting for beginners and experts alike.

Activities in winter
Winter in the Alps is wonderful – frozen lakes, crunching snow, crystal-clear air and glorious weather – these are the ideal conditions for a winter holiday. Once the snow has settled, there is nothing standing in the way of winter sports. The Alpine foothills region in the Ostallgäu is ideal for many different activities in the cold season:
